A valuble resource for the people of Plymouth
There are many things to report this week. The first, and possibly most important announcement/reminder (as reported by Fred on the ‘Have your say’ page of this website), is that there is a full Council meeting that will cover swimming on 12-6-06, starting at 14.30 at the Council House. Go for a moan and a whinge.
Also, in addition to facilitating an afternoon out, the ‘Save Seaton Pool’ campaign can also suggest some questions that could be asked. The first question is “How many pumps went down at Central Park two weeks ago?”. The correct answer is two. The second question is “Should the Central Park pool complex have been shut down whilst pump repairs were made?” The correct answer is yes. The third question is “Why was the Central Park pool complex not shut down whilst pump repairs were made?” The correct answer is oops. The fourth question is “Was the Health and Safety of any member of the public compromised during the period that pump repairs were being made?” The correct answer is mmm…. The other point that could be made at the Council meeting on 12-06-06 is related to Plympton Pool. The questions here are also related to the water pumping systems. Assuming that there is no catastrophic failure in the near future, a major shut down (for 6-8 weeks) will be required for system maintenance at Plympton Pool. When are the Council planning to do this? Some time around Christmas 2006 seems to be the favourite date. It is going to be very crowded at Central Park!!
Finally, that lifelong supporter of swimming in Plymouth, Tudor Evans, has been in the Herald again. With thanks to the Herald, we reproduce the story below. It seems that Tudor is blaming the SWRDA for forcing the closure of Seaton, and implying the closure was nothing to do with the Labour majority block on the Council. Bad SWRDA! We are sure that everyone will believe Tudor and not punish his party in the Southway by-election that is planned to take place on 22-06-06. Keep voting (if you have the opportunity).
