A valuble resource for the people of Plymouth
So, a lot of seats changed hands and Plymouth City Council has no party in overall control. We are sorry that Lee Finn lost his seat, as he has been one of our most stalwart supporters. We call on the three party leaders on the Council to come together to agree a way ahead for Seaton Pool. We believe that over the last six months the people of Plymouth have shown how much they were disgusted by the decision to close the pool and that this disgust was reflected in the votes cast on 4th May. We hope that an agreement can be reached to re-open the pool and retain it until a replacement, preferably in the North of Plymouth, is in service. We carry links to the BBC and the Evening Herald websites below.

We can also report on the SWRDA (the current owners of Seaton pool and the ones who might knock it down). A story carried by the Evening Herald on 2-5-06 seems to be saying that the SWRDA were in talks to extend the lease of the pool and have nothing to do with its closure. Possibly, but we do not believe that the SWRDA has been open and honest with the people of Plymouth. Rather it has sided with the council (a decision it probably regrets) and has only leaked information to the press when cornered and forced to defend its position. We call on the SWRDA to cease any decommissioning activities at the pool immediately and enter discussions on its future use until another swimming facility is available. We carry the Evening Herald story below.
