A valuble resource for the people of Plymouth
In spite of the campaign (so far), Seaton Pool’s last planned open day nears. How could they be so unknowing to think that closure would be painless? How could they be so stubborn and unconcerned in the face of such sustained and justified opposition? Why were there minimal protests when Ballards was shut? Because it was a sad, underused and unloved pool. Why has there been such opposition to the closure of Seaton? Because it works, and it works for a lot of people. We will continue to name and shame those responsible.
However, the Local Government Ombudsman is investigating complaints that Plymouth City Council has acted improperly in the closure of Seaton Pool. The Evening Herald on 6-4-06 carried the story below, which details the investigation. Another story has been running on the BBC website and this is also linked below. Thanks to both the BBC and the Herald for publicising the disgraceful conduct of Plymouth City Council. The final link below is a re-statement of our arguments. We believe these to be as tru today as when the Council first announced the proposed closure in November 2005.
Be there at closing time on the 9th April
