And still we go on…

We continue to publicise the vandalism being carried out on Seaton Pool by Plymouth City Council. If a school was closed due to arson by vandals all the Cabinet and Labour Councillors would be queuing up to condemn those responsible. Yet what they are doing is much worse; they are supposedly rational adults closing a well used working facility with no sign (or hope?) of a replacement.

The yellow posters keep appearing around the city and were included in a Seaton Pool article carried in the Evening Herald on 22-3-06. There is a link to the story below. However, quite by chance, over the page was another story about child obesity in Plymouth. What amazing timing, and the article mentions swimming schemes. We also carry this story below.

Additionally we carry a letter from Councillor Dr David Salter that links Plymouth child obesity and Seaton Pool. This letter was published in the Evening Herald on 23-03-06.

A final point for those users of Seaton Pool that do not regularly use other pools (and a bit of advertising for Seaton) is that you do not realise how good a six lane 33 metre pool is for just plain swimming until you go to a 4/5 lane 25 metre pool. The water surface area of Seaton is nigh on that of Marjons and Plympton combined. If closure does go ahead it is going to br extremely crowded! Keep ringing, writing and emailing.
